Shoes.  On a bench. In the middle of winter.  Actually.... it's amazing, isn't it that on the 30th of January we can go outside and walk around without boots on and there is no snow on the ground.  Or most anywhere else. Its cold today, but that's about it.  Really, pretty amazing!

Today Jim and I went to the NY Botanical Garden to see the latest exhibit, "Caribbean Garden, Adventures in Adaptations" .  I love reflections.  This jungly one appealed to me with the contrasts between dark and light.

This gorgous baby is called Queen's Wreath, a rapid growing vine that resembles wisteria as it happily twines around and around a trellis. It is native to the Caribbean and South America.  Beautiful delicate shades of lavendar and purple.

Touched by light.   It was a rainy, dreary, foggy day for most of it and as it neared sunset, suddenly there was a bit of sun just lighting up the treetops for a minute.  It makes them look as if they have their golden, fall colors on again when, in fact, they are bare bones.

There's nothing better than getting books either in the mail or deivered by UPS.  Today was one of those days.  I don't get as many of these lovely packages as I used to since getting the Kindle but every once in a while I just have to indulge in honest to goodness page turning books.  These are not exactly books to read but journals of a sort.  Love that kind of thing.  The Q&A journal especially has me intrigued as it is a 5 year journal with a prompt or question to answer each day.  A double treat... It will be fun as the years go by to see how my answers change - or do they?  Thanks Lyn for the suggestion.

My prompt today was ' in focus' and the  photo was very similar to this one... better of course, but similar with the direction of the grain leading toward the statue of "Happiness" which leads your eye to her.  I loved it and since I had the same little statue tried to do the same thing.  I like how it came out...

Outside my back door today it is very, very foggy.  The temperature is rising.  The snow is melting.  It is raining. Therefore, it is foggy.

Look at what my girls made for our front door.  Isn't it beautiful?  It's so Sarah! Lots of pink, and sparkles, and hearts for Valentine's Day.  I absolutely love it.  Thank you Lyn and Sarah for all your hard work and creativity!
